If you receive workers’ compensation in New Hampshire, you may be pleased to hear that changes have been made in the weekly rates you’ll receive; they’ve changed for the better. According to a report from July 1, the maximum workers’ compensation payment will now increase each week from $1,383 to $1404. That change is applicable starting July 1, 2014.
To get the maximum benefit as an employee, you would have to have had a weekly wage that averaged out at $2,340 or higher. Don’t fret if you’re on the lower end of the workers’ compensation pay scale; the article claims that the minimum weekly compensation rate is also increasing. It used to be $276.80, but now it will rise to $280.80. The minimum weekly rate is 30 percent of the State’s average weekly wage for anyone with injuries after Feb. 8, 1994.
Interestingly, despite the minimum weekly payout being $280.80, if an employee’s average weekly wage is lower than that amount, the employee is only to receive the full amount of his weekly wage. That rate is not allowed to exceed 90 percent of the after-tax earnings the employee received.
Another change states that if a person earned an average weekly wage of $280.80 or higher but less than $2,340, they should be compensated for 60 percent of their average weekly wage or $280.80, whichever is higher. Their compensation rate in that case can’t exceed 100 percent of an employee’s after tax earnings.
In 2013, it was reported that the state’s average weekly wage was $936.00, making the $280.80 exactly 30 percent of that wage as changed for inflation.
