Distractions, speeding, drunk driving and other acts can lead to serious collisions that take the lives of the people you care about. Injuries you suffer in these accidents can impact your life now and into the future, while the death of a loved one can cause feelings of guilt along with the financial burden of losing an income. You are within your rights to make a claim if someone’s negligence has resulted in a loved one’s death, just as this man’s family may choose to do.

An elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident after a 21-year-old man’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck his vehicle in New Durham. A story from Sept. 13 described the accident that required an air medic on the scene.

According to the story, a 21-year-old man was driving east on Route 11 in a pickup truck before he suddenly crossed the centerline and collided with the 83-year-old man’s vehicle at around 9 a.m. The 83-year-old man and his passenger, an 80-year-old woman, were both in the vehicle. The 83-year-old man was killed, while his passenger was airlifted to a medical center with life-threatening injuries. She remains in critical condition.

The 21-year old man was taken to the hospital as well, but his life was not expected to be in danger. So far, police have been investigating the incident, but they haven’t reported why the man crossed the centerline. There has not been a mention of alcohol, drugs, speeding or other similar factors involved in this crash.
